Reflections Award Ceremony!

Kia entered some artwork into the Reflections contest at school a few months ago. She won first place for her age group in the visual art category. We went to the school assembly when they presented the awards. I think she had some mixed emotions. She seemed excited and proud and yet a little shy and embarrased. She wouldn't hold the flowers until the ceremony was over and everyone was gone. I'm so proud of her!

I gave Kia a bouquet of pink roses! She loves them. She cut them and placed them in a vase all on her own!

Kia with her trophy and her prize winning reflections artwork. The theme was "Diversity" Wesley holding the duplicate trophy ordered by mistake. It has Kia's name on it so they gave it to her even though she already had one.

My 5 year old son, Wesley G!

My baby turned 5 on January 26th. I took hin out for lunch after preschool, Daddy took him out to Joes Crab Shack with Aunt Manda (it was her b-day on the 19th) and then we had a family party on the 28th. Wesley got some good gifts that include a Hot Wheels track with cars, a transformer helmet that is very life like, transformer play-doh set and a $5 bill that he has yet to spend! Wesley is such a cute little guy when he wants to be! Happy Birthday Wesley! WE love you!

My 7 year old daughter, Kia

Kia's birthday is on Tuesday the 17th, but she had her friend party yesterday. It was Rapunzel theme. We made paper lanterns and played pin the hair on Rapunzel. It was a lot of fun!

Spencer putting together Kia's Legos she got for her birthday. Such a nice brother!

Kia got this bag for her birthday. It came with markers so she can color it herself.

My 9 year old, Spencer

I can't believe I am the mother of a 9 year old boy! I still remember the day he was born like it was yesterday, but my how time flys!

Poor kid :( Only one friend came to his party.

Spencer received his Wolf rank in the Cub Scouts. There was also a pin for me that he pinned on my shirt. I am also the Assistant den leader for the Bears. I am now truly an "den mother" as Spencer is in my den now.

Halloween 2011

Kia went to a birthday/halloween party as "Jessie" from Toy Story. She later changed her costume to an "x-ray girl."

We had Grandma Woodruff over to help carve pumpkins. Matt has been to the dentist since and now has a new tooth!

School parade.

Harman Ward Halloween Trunk or Treat and Chili cook off. I made spicy Turkey chili. It was the first one to get eaten up, but didn't win :( They judged the costumes by age goup. Ella won most adorable for her age group.

A lot has been going on so here's a quick look at what we've been up to over the last month.

June 25th
Ella's "first" birthday party. There were two more parties to follow on different days.

June 28th
Woodruff/Hilburn party at the Park

Some birthday outfits.

June 25th
West Fest 5K. My first one ever. Matt ran with me, well, he sort of walked fast. His legs are longer so his walk was the same pace as my run. I kinda felt bad cause I think he wanted to run but he wanted to stay by me.

Finish line. We finished in 00:40:50. That was a good time for me.

July 1st
We took the kids to Lagoon and had a blast!

Rides, Rides and more rides!

Lunch time. Wesley being silly as usual. Spencer checking the map for the next ride.

Me and Kia just coming out of the fountain after a long, hot day at Lagoon.

July 4th
We decided to hike Grandeur Peak as a family. We got up at 5 a.m. left our house by 6:05 a.m. and left the canyon at 2:15 p.m. That was a long day but totally worth it. I started struggling about half way up and even considered turning around but we were so close to the top. I would have regreted turning around. Going down was somewhat easier, but we all started feeling very sore and couldn't wait to get to the bottom.

At the trailhead. 3.4 miles to the peak.

On the way up.

Top of Grandeur Peak
I cannot believe that we hiked 3 1/2 hours to the top of a mountain as a family!
