LovSac

We found this lovsac at D.I. for $20! What a steal. They are anywhere between $300-$600 new depending on the size. The kids love it.

Little Black Mountain

On Sunday we decided to go for a drive to this mountain where there are some cool indian drawings. It was really hot so we packed lots of water and granola bars and nuts. You never know when you might get stranded somewhere. Anyway, this mountain is actually over the state line in Arizona. It was really fun and I realized half way through our hike why I thought it was so fun. I could actually walk and hike without getting tired! I was amazed! 6m-1 year ago, I would have dreaded going and I wouldn't have had any fun.

This the mountain and some cool petroglyphs we saw.

Isn't he cute!

There were some coins tucked inside a little cave in this rock. No one dared put their hand inside. I kept thinking of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom where the girl puts her hand inside the wall. Later matt used a stick to get them out. A dime and a penny, I think, is what was in there.

Kia was starting to feel hot and sick. I carried her on my shoulders for a while.

This pic turned out so cute I wish I'd been in it.

Fun exploring.

About half way through our hike, Kia started getting really hot. I had her sit down in the shade and drink her water. She was feeling like throwing up, but Matt doused her with water and carried her for a while. She began to feel much better after that.

Kia was really good at reading the map. She found where we were and told us where to go to get to the car.

By the time we were done and heading back to the car Wesley too was having heat stroke. WE doused him with water and
Matt carried him the rest of the way.

Color Week

This week we have been learning about ph balance and the color wheel. It is really interesting how to mix color. It's confusing sometimes. I didn't actually get to mix or apply any color, but next week we are going to bleach our mannequin heads. I'm really excited!

Kindergarten Graduation

This year has been awesome for Spencer. He has grown and learned so much. His teacher Mrs. Brown was a blessing. I'm so grateful that she was his teacher this year. Mrs. Brown had a premature baby about 4 weeks ago and has been out ever since. One of the 2nd grade teachers filled in for her and it just wasn't the same. Before I took Spencer's picture with her, she said something to him. I really wish I could know what she said because I know she loves the kids in her class so much and missed them during the time she has been out. I know it was really special for her to be at graduation and see the kids one more time.

Waiting for Spencer to come out for the kindergarten program.

This was at the park after graduation. We took a picnik and I bought these awful cupcakes. They tasted good, but they had this dark green frosting that got on everything and seemed to spread everywhere. It would stain the kids faces and hands. I will NEVER buy those again!

Finger waves and pin curls

These are a few techniques I've been learning at school. I am having difficulties with the finger waves, but the pin curls were easy. I've done them before. I am having such a blast with school. I hope it stays that way!

This is a good example of finger waves.

This is mine.

This is the pin curls. It turned out really cute!

Spencer's first visit to the Dentist

I know, I am a terrible mom! I have never taken the kids to the dentist. Last week we found out Spencer had a problem with one tooth. It looked like it was rotting and maybe even effecting the gum area. Anyway, we gave him a week to brush really good and then if it wasn't better we would take him to the dentist. It did not get better so today he went to the dentist for the first time. Matt took him and said he was really brave. They filled one cavity and then pulled the rotten tooth. He was awesome. He was nervous at first, but then afterwards he said it didn't hurt at all. He is so big! I can't believe how well he handled the situation.

Poo Poo Head

Wesley has finally been contaminated. He has always been so cute and funny, but he has been introduced to "potty" humor. I think he actually understands what he says too. His favorite is "poo poo head" but he also likes "pee pee head" "poo poo house" "pee pee butt" and so forth. I think you get the idea. I'm still trying to figure out why kids find "potty humor" so funny. I asked Spencer and Kia this morning why it's so funny to say or hear those words. They couldn't really answer me. I'm trying the "ignore it" tactic and we'll see what happens. I have put Wesley in time out before though, because he has called me "poo poo head" to my face when he was angry with me. Ahh, how fast they grow up.

First Day of School

Yesterday was the first day of school. I was really excited and nervous at the same time. Matt offered to give me a blessing and I gladly accepted. That helped a lot to ease my anxiety so I could focus on having a good time. There are 8 people starting the night class including myself. Our teacher is older in years but you would never know it by her personality. She's mature but a really fun lady. For example, last night her cell phone rang during class (cell phones are not permitted) and the penalty for anyone who brings their cell phone is to hula hoop in front of the whole class. She was such a good sport.
I'm glad I took the opportunity to go to school right now. I'm having a good time and I hope it only gets better.

Filipe and Sione from the Biggest Loser

Before pic of Sione and Filipe when they started on the Biggest Loser.

After pic of Filipe. He was voted of last week.

This morning I went to the gym and on my way out I passed by Sione and Filipe from the Biggest Loser. I had a million things I could say going through my mind at that moment. I was so nervous and my heart was pounding. You would think I could say hi, how are ya, you look good, you're an inspiration, good luck, or something like that right? No, I said "heeeey" and just kept walking.  I missed such a great opportunity to talk to these guys, but at least I can say I've seen them in person. They look great and I'm amazed by their perservierance, strength and courage.  I just wish I could have said that to their faces.  Oh well, maybe there is a next time.
